Biography

Paul Watson- Lead vocals, Backing Vocals and Percussion

Having played guitar and sung for various solo projects and wedding bands whilst living in London for 4 years, Paul moved to Brighton in the early 90s and experimented with bohemian beach life and his particular brand of language teaching. His blend of pop, rock and soulful vocals combines the passion of punk with the tones of Daryl Hall and Luther Vandross.

Sharon Colgan – Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals and Percussion

Sharon, the newest addition to the band, brings with her a wealth of experience, having been performing on the Yorkshire Blues, Soul and wedding/function circuit for over 20 years. Her amazing voice fits in perfectly with Paul and Nick, bringing beautiful harmonies to the Violets’ sound.

Nick “Clarkey” Clarke (B. Mus) – Guitars and Backing Vocals

Nick is our founding member and band leader. He has been playing the guitar for more years than anyone can remember. Originally hailing from Canterbury, but now based up north in Yorkshire, legend has it that Nick burned himself out while touring Europe in the 70s, disappeared during the 80s and has now found a new lease of life drinking lots of tea and dreaming of touring again (this time in a campervan, with his wife, Luisa). Nick has played in wedding and party bands for over half his life, so he certainly is experienced! Nick is also a respected guitar teacher in the North Yorkshire area.

James Sant – Drums, Percussion and Backing Vocals

James has been playing the drums for over 15 years, and has a wealth of experience in many styles of music, including Big Band, Wedding Bands, Swing, Jazz, Rock and Pop.

Ned McClelland – Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals

Ned is a talented multi-instrumentalist, but sticks mainly to bass for the Violets. He hails from one of Harrogate’s most respected musical families. His amazing slap solos are guaranteed to get you moving and grooving.

Nathan Tooke – Guitars and Backing Vocals

Nathan is a talented and established guitarist, having been playing in the Yorkshire area for over 20 years, including several funk, pop and wedding band outfits. His funky chops will have you setting that dancefloor alight in no time!
